Chapter : 3

Just as In The Dream

Time skip to 5 days after the events of the previous chapter and this is early morning in the Friday.

Dinu wakes up and realizes that there are only a few minutes left for sunrise.

But Ganga and Senthil are still asleep. Dinu decides to let them sleep for some more time before proceeding to silently get off his bed.

Ganga, in her sleep, is having a dream. She is dreaming of having a nice cup of filter coffee prepared by none other than her beloved Dinu, surprising her. She giggles and ruffles Dinu’s hair before proceeding to hug each other tightly. Ganga also dreams of having her navel kissed by Dinu.

A few minutes later

Ganga eventually wakes up after having such a nice and pleasant dream. And Senthil wakes up a few seconds later. They both eventually brush their respective teeth.

An hour later

Ganga has taken bath and is now in a blue blouse and a white saree with pink designs. And her navel is vividly peeking out.

A few seconds later, there comes a nice tempting smell from the kitchen which captures Ganga’s attention.

She eventually walks into the kitchen and near the stove, she spots a brass vessel used for brewing filter coffee.

Ganga picks the vessel up which she finds pretty warm and discovers the fact that the source from where such tempting smell comes is none other than that vessel. She’s really amazed on the discovery.

GANGA: (mind-voice only) Ada Paavi !!! In my dream, I was surrounded by the fragrance of coffee and it was my beloved son who was brewing it. Now, I’m getting the fragrance of coffee for real. What a surprise!!!!!!! I love the smell of coffee in the morning. But who made this beautiful filter coffee?

A few minutes later, Senthil and Dinu also have taken bath and are wearing a fresh set of clothes. Ganga, with the coffee vessel in her hand, approaches both of them.

SENTHIL: Wow, a nice tempting smell, Ganga. Did you just make filter coffee?

GANGA: No, Senthil. I didn’t touch this vessel at all.

SENTHIL: Then who made such a wonderful filter coffee with such a tempting fragrance?

DINU: (intervenes) I made.

Both Ganga and Senthil look surprised.

GANGA and SENTHIL together: What???????

DINU: (chuckling) Yes. I woke up in the early morning while you both were sleeping. I just let you sleep for some more time while I silently got off the bed. Eventually an idea sparkled in my mind which is making of coffee.

SENTHIL: Wow!! Fascinating!! From where you got this idea?

DINU: Appa, you and Amma are coffee lovers. I have been noticing this ever since you adopted me as your son. Despite being cold and distant from you, I have been noticing what you like to consume a lot each and every time we are on a trip. And I have even closely watched several coffeemakers on the methods they employ to make filter coffee. Then recently I stumbled upon a filter coffee vessel which you bought two years ago. By reminiscing those events and suddenly spotting the vessel, I eventually got an idea to make filter coffee this morning.

Senthil ruffles Dinu’s hair and laughs mildly.

SENTHIL: Good job, my dear boy.

Dinu smiles warmly.

DINU: Thank you, Appa. For so long, I refused to interact with you and Amma not because of hatred but rather because my constant thinking about my biological parents. After Amma tried hard to convince me several times, I eventually moved on and accepted you as my Appa and Ganga as my Amma. What really impressed me is she never got mad at me even a little bit while attempting to convince me. She rather kept calm no matter how many times she attempted.

SENTHIL: Come with me.

DINU: Where?

SENTHIL: To the terrace.

Dinu smiles and walks to the terrace along with his adopted father where they have a private discussion.

SENTHIL: Why were you cold and distant for so long?

DINU: I think I just told you the reason.

SENTHIL: Can I tell you something?

DINU: Go ahead, Appa. I’m listening.

SENTHIL: Not everyone is nice to you.

DINU: Yes, Appa. I know that.

SENTHIL: Also remember that not everyone is cruel to you.

DINU: Okay.

SENTHIL: Have I ever been cruel to you?

DINU: I have never seen that.

SENTHIL: Has Ganga ever been cruel to you?

DINU: Neither that one.

SENTHIL: Because we are not. We have always wanted a child but because of curse, we couldn’t have a biological child. That’s why we decided go for adoption.

DINU: Okay. Why did you choose me?

SENTHIL: (chuckles) Because when we visited an orphanage, there we saw several children, each with different abilities. But Ganga got fascinated by your abilities and she fixed her mind to adopt you. She then told me about your fascinating abilities which is why we chose you.

DINU: I don’t know what’s so special about me.

Senthil grins and pats Dinu’s shoulders.

SENTHIL: You will get to know that soon. Don’t worry.

While Dinu and Senthil are having a discussion in terrace, Ganga is still busy in admiring the coffee decoction made by her beloved adopted son.

GANGA: (mind-voice only) Is this real or am I just daydreaming? How can what I just dreamt of immediately materialize in real life? This is a strange miracle!!!!!!

Dinu and Senthil return to the hall after having a conversation. Ganga serves the coffee to them before serving herself. Three of them enjoy the aromatic filter coffee to their heart’s content. After the coffee, Ganga goes to the kitchen to prepare breakfast as well as lunch while Senthil is having a business conversation with one of his staffs via phone.

Dinu walks into the kitchen.

DINU: Amma, how was the coffee?

Ganga looks at Dinu with a big warm smile.

GANGA: Dinu ma, to be honest, the coffee was excellent.

Dinu chuckles and places his right hand on his chest.

DINU: Thank you, Amma.

GANGA: Can I tell you something?

DINU: Go ahead, Amma. I’m listening.

GANGA: Today, before waking up, I had a dream.

DINU: About what?

GANGA: In the dream, I was surrounded by the smell of coffee and I found that smell irresistible. I followed wherever the fragrance led me to. It finally led me to you because it was you who was brewing coffee.

Dinu looks surprised.

DINU: Oh!!! Really?

Ganga smiles and cups Dinu’s face in both of her hands.

GANGA: Of course, Dinu ma. You were brewing coffee and when I approached you, you humbly served me some coffee with the best quality ever.

DINU: Ada paavi !!! There’s a coincidence.

GANGA: Absolutely, Dinu ma. There’s also one more thing which you did.

Dinu is excited and eager to hear what is the other thing he did in her adopted mom’s dream.

GANGA: Do you remember? On that day, when I was having a stomachache, you massaged my tummy.

DINU: Yes. So?

GANGA: First, you used hands. Then, you used a white rose. Remember?

DINU: Yes, Amma. I do remember.

GANGA: When you were touching my tummy with the rose, it felt like soft and gentle kisses.

Dinu is fascinated and wants to hear more.

DINU: Wow!!!! Unbelievable!!!!

GANGA: Believe it, chellakutty. It happened in my dream too.

DINU: Oh…. Was I kissing your tummy with a rose?

GANGA: Yes but no.

Dinu looks confused.

DINU: Huh?

GANGA: You were kissing my tummy, that too right on my thoppul. But not with rose or any other flower. You kissed my thoppul directly with your lips.

Dinu is heavily blushing and he looks really embarrassed.

DINU: Did I do that?

GANGA: Yes. In my dream.

DINU: How did you feel?

GANGA: It felt like a gentle massage but more effective than the massage you gave me that day.

DINU: Wow!!!!

GANGA: Yes. Indeed. Is it okay if I wish for that one too to happen in reality?

DINU: Absolutely okay, Amma.

GANGA: Thank you, chellakutty.

DINU: Anytime for my beloved Amma.

After saying this, Dinu plants a quick peck kiss right on Ganga’s navel.

Ganga responds to such kiss by giggling.

Dinu then slowly pulls away and Ganga again cups his face in the palms of both of her hands.

GANGA: Dinu ma, that was a nice kiss.

Dinu chuckles softly and blushes mildly.

DINU: I’m glad you like the kiss that I just planted.

GANGA: Dinu ma??

DINU: Yes, Amma.

GANGA: Can you do another thing for me?

DINU: Amma, I have to go to school. Maybe after return?

GANGA: You still have time till you have to leave for school, dear.

DINU: Okay, Amma. May I know what you would like me to do?

GANGA: Just a few seconds ago, you planted a kiss on my thoppul. Remember?

DINU: Yes, Amma. You want that again?

GANGA: Of course, Dinu ma. But this time a deeper, firmer and longer one.

DINU: Sure, my beloved Amma.

Ganga chuckles and ruffles Dinu’s hair again.

GANGA: My beloved little companion!!!!! Ready now.

Dinu smiles and slowly leads his face towards Ganga’s tummy. He, with his little lips, plants a kiss on Ganga’s big and deep navel that is firmer, deeper and longer than the previous kiss he planted.

Ganga enjoys this kiss much more than the previous kiss she got. She moans melodiously and caresses Dinu’s head.

After such a smooch, Dinu pulls back and holds Ganga’s waist with both of his hands while the latter is again cupping the former’s face with both of her hands. Both look into each other’s eyes deeply with a big and warm smile.

GANGA: Dinu ma, you just planted two kisses on your Amma’s thoppul. The first one is shorter and lighter while the second one is relatively deeper, firmer and longer. I like the second kiss the most. I’m honestly speaking. Your Amma may want this form of kiss again.

Dinu chuckles softly.

DINU: I’m willing to do anything at any time for my beloved Amma.

Ganga chuckles which is double the effect of Dinu’s chuckle and she kisses his forehead.

GANGA: Dinu ma, each and every time you consider me as your beloved Amma, I feel so loved, honored and protected.

DINU: Amma, actually I feel the same way and I should be the one who should feel so.

GANGA: Why?

DINU: Because when you adopted me, I didn’t understand you at the very beginning. I treated you like an alien and remained distant from you. It took me really long to understand your good heart. Though I was never housed in your tummy, you treated me like I actually was with lots of love and care. I love you, Amma. I love you forever.

Ganga bursts into joyful tears and hugs Dinu tightly. After a few seconds, the hug breaks and wipes her tears with her pallu.

GANGA: Dinu ma, you don’t have to be my biological son for love. In fact, biology is not at all required for a mother-child relationship. You are my logical child.

Dinu smiles faintly.

DINU: You better be right, Amma. Let’s hope you are my logical mom.

GANGA: I’ll do anything for my beloved Dinu to be his logical mom because he has every quality to be my logical son.

Dinu and Ganga hug each other again before proceeding to have breakfast.

After the breakfast, Senthil leaves for office and Dinu leaves for school. Ganga waves her hand with a big warm smile and with the same smile, she retreats to her couch and feels immensely proud about her dream turning into a reality.
